Scientists from University college of Dublin (Ireland) have found out, why huge deer Megaloceros giganteus which name also Irish or большерогими have died out. The huge deer outwardly resembling a fallow deer, veins in плейстоцене and early голоцене. Differed large growth and huge (to 4 m in scope) the horns strongly expanded above in the form of a shovel with several shoots. The structure of a teeth, finitenesses and horns shows that большерогий the deer lived on damp meadows. Live in woods it could not, after all with such "ornament" on a head to go on wood it was impossible.

The huge deer has died out about 10 600 years ago for the unknown reasons. It was supposed that the big role in it climate changes could play.

The Irish scientists investigated a teeth of an animal and have confirmed a guess. Deer really could not transfer climatic changes and have died out for hunger. As the climate in Ireland became colder and more chilly, wood began to turn to tundra, and in an area большерогого a deer plants which made a basis of its diet began to disappear. Difficulties with getting of food also have led to that animals have disappeared from the face of the earth.

The bolsherogy deer has been extended in Europe, Asia and the North Africa. Especially many skeletons are revealed in peatbogs of Ireland. In territory of the former USSR more often remains большерогого a deer meets on parking of the person of the Stone Age in averages and southern latitudes, including Crimea and the North Caucasus; the whole skeletons are found in territory of the Ryazan and Sverdlovsk areas.
